Thoughts from Rev. Frost ~ Is America Asking for Barabbas?

The American Empire was founded by Europeans, predominantly white men, who sought to escape the life of accountability to a King, establishing a nation where individuals ruled their own lives. At the sentencing of Jesus, Pilate asked the crowd, "Do you want me to release him or Barabbas?" (Matthew 27:17). The crowd then cried out, "Give us Barabbas!" (John 18:40). Barabbas, a convicted insurrectionist, was released due to the cries of the crowd. So, the question remains: Is America asking for Barabbas? Is the crowd demanding the release of a convicted criminal?

Our modern-day Barabbas is attempting to run again for President of the United States. Former President Donald J. Trump is seen by some as America’s modern-day Barabbas. Is this really what America desires?

Let’s be clear, I'm not suggesting that if Trump is Barabbas, then Biden must be Jesus. Not at all. What I am saying is that we must carefully consider who we elect in the next election to lead our country. Will history judge us as guilty of releasing a criminal, just as those who shouted for Barabbas were?
